Nine Eleven At Seven

Truth be told, I'm rather loathesome of this somber turn on the calender of 11 September. I'd rather be standing in line behind some smelly guy paying for his big gulp with pennies at 7-11 than have to talk about 9-11.

So I won't.

Except to simply say that day sucked.

I sadly remember Grandma S.'s last words to me on 9-11 "Oh what a world, what a world!" She then slipped off into a peaceful slumber before meeting her Maker two days later. (Seven years ago today 9-13-2008.)
God Bless & watch over all those who perished and who continue to mourn for their loved ones.) mts

I remember being called by my mother in a panic as she proclaimed, "they're going to send you to war!". Unfortunately, I'm not sure what I feel for the memory of that day anymore. I remember feeling angry yet confident that our new cowboy president would lead America into the ass-kicking of a lifetime. That of course did not happen, and now the vapid leaching by the media and the politicians have sucked any hope of any personal experience of emotion from my mind. The side-effect of this campaign of misguided passion has produced bupkiss except for foaming-at-the-mouth nationalism disguised as patriotism and defense contractors stock to rise half-a-point. I'm not sure what has done more to make 9/11 a novelty; a commemorative limited addition faux $20 silver plate with the twin towers that can be yours for $19.95 or Rudy Guliani.
